June Meeting

LeagueWould all teams please note there must be a representative from each team that wants to be in the league next season present at the June meeting
Any team that is not represented will be assumed that they do not wish to particpate in the league for season 2009-2010 and will NOT be included in the fixtures.
If any new team wishes to join the league then they too should attend this meeting which is held on the last Thursday of June in the Waterin Hole Rutherglen.

NO EXCEPTIONS

League singles

LeagueMonday the 25th of May saw the finalists of our league singles return to play down to the final two. Out of a possible 17 qualifiers only 12 registered their intention of coming to the finals night. As the current holder, A. MacLeod, had been knocked out in the qualifiers it meant we would have a different winner this season and with tournament favourite Jayson Shaw taking unwell (Im sure I speak for eveyone in the league when I say get well soon Jayson) the field was wide open.
Onto the draw.................................

League Doubles

LeagueAt the recent monthly meeting in April a date was set for the finals of the league doubles however this was unsuitable for a few of the finalsits and a new date was set, and yet once again we received calls from qualifiers to tell us this date was also unsuitable. So the doubles finals have been cancelled for this month and a new date will be set at the May monthly meeting.
This date will not be changed

Individual Membership 4

SPA_eventsAt the recent league meeting the dates and venues for the IM 4 Qualifiers for our area were read out and all present members took a note for their respective teams. However if you want to know the full draw here it is......................................................................

Rosebowl Cup

Cups generalThe Rosebowl is the cup that is usually played in two sponsors venues over a two week period and this usually included teams playing on a Monday or a Wednesday however this year there were not enough teams willing to play on these days so the league will play the event on Tuesdays only but this will mean that the league will now run later than normal and the final of this tournament will not be played until the beginning of next season. This was agreed by all members that were present at the meeting.
The draw is.............................

Well done Renzie junior.

IM 3 Qualifiers

SPA_eventsThe dates and venues were given out for the Glasgow qualifiers for the IM 3 event. It was also stipulated at the meeting that IM3 finals will be held in Inverness and if any player has no intention of travelling up to Inverness should they qualify then they should not knock someone out of the event that would be willing to travel.

super 15's 2009

Glasgow BThe SPA in conjunction with promoter Ross McInnes have devised a new format for Super 15’s, starting this year. The top 32 teams (all A teams plus required amount of B teams by ballot up to 32, for this year only) will take their place as usual at Craig Tara over the weekend 19th to 22nd November. The following weekend 27th to 29th November The B team championship will take place at Petticur Bay (B teams not balloted into the main event) This event will consist of a max of 20 teams, entry fees will be £200,accommodation fees £35 just as the main event, each team will have 3 caravans with a player pool of 15 to 18.The event will be structured in such a way that the top teams will go forward to the following years main event, example, if we need three it will the two finalists plus the winner of the semi play off and so on.

SPA 5 man team

SPA_eventsRiley's will sponsor the Scottish 5 person team event, totally run by the SPA but played in Riley Clubs as long as leagues have them in their area.
Riley's will produce posters giving details on how to enter and qualify.
The cost per team will be £30 with £5 going back to each area rep/organiser for their work.
The prize fund will be £5000 Guarantted.
32 teams will be at the finals and this will be done on a pro rata basis just like the singles.
